Loomi Concept

Loomi Concept:

Loomi lamp concept was inspirational to my Design

 As I see the assembled model, look very organic like structure.

 The specific shape templates, get assembled together in a certain sequence to

build up a model of spheres, or different ellipsoids.

I had the templates cut on the laser cutter, Producing large number of

templates, It needs 33 pieces to assemble a sphere shape.

The 'structure' looks so aesthetic and has organic feeling, as that shape or

similar ones simulates a live creature, maybe particular plants  or sea creatures.

Similar exiting structures, with various purposes. are good examples for

imaging the Loomi structure in reality,  into 1:1 scale. [see. last 2 Images]

The Organic Compound

The Organic Compound

Changing perspective to a 'space dwelling'. concentrating on the space itslf, I find that; 'cylinder' is more organic shape than a 'vault'!

My design is still, a small  compound of weekend retreat. Units of Cylinders to inhabit are for people which they can come together and use the central 'hub' to share daily activities. The individual units shape, is semi cylindrical (see sketchbook).

I had 'flashback' inspiration, of a small weekend retreat in park in the Alps
(Image)
Designer: I.D.E.A. architects, whom I worked with,  in Switzerland.

From here,  I have to twist my thoughts to focus on the 'Space'.
Space in which, would challenge the users to think systematically about;

The unusual 'organic' shape of the unit they're dwelling!.
The unusual materials have constructed their units!

 Cylinders (or semi-) covered with outer, attractive and colourful (TiO2) curvy  panels (see sketchbook).

 These 'organic' shaped 'spaces' could;
  • Attract the users to use it!
  • Give chance to socialise!
  • Space will 'move' the users to different livings energy! as It might enable them to do what perhaps, they are not been able to do, on 'ordinary' days!
  • Space would awaken their awareness to aspects like climate, ecology.
 That what 'organic space' might do..

Ideal Space

Cleaner Place:

I read an article in National Geographic(Issue 12/2014) about new building material ‘Titanium Dioxide’ which it can be mixed with cement, to form big scale panels, in geometrical aesthetic patterns. These panels can cover whole facade of any building. The substance TiO2 has super properties of eating smog and air purifying!. One facade it’s a catalyst that can break down pollutants into less harmful compounds. Which can reach a limit of neutralising the polluted air of up to 1000 cars each day!. -London and Milan, are having it on their agenda-It sounds big potential for the major health organisations!. That is a work, where   designers come together with scientists and architects, making a new solutions  for solving problems, specially that have big impact on air pollution problem. (Pictures, see sketchbook).
  As I am concerned in my 'practice design' about the 'Ideal' space for people, I will adopt Tio2 panels to my vaults compound project.

The Compound:
Its a arrangement of vaults,
4 vaults join together centred with a dome,  form a Motive (see sketchbook),
the Motive unit will repeat, in a certain sequence to shape up a fractal (spiral)!
Its Organic layout design for the vaults compound.

Having such an element of ( TiO2) to a compound as  recreational gathering, where people come  together, to rejuvenate and energise. That’s what I may call 'ideal place'  that we might lack!... and my organic design could contribute to solve this problem.
